Global variables, custom units & additional places also sync via iCloud to other Macs.iCloud is now the default location for sheetbooks in new installations of Soulver.Support for calculations in binary & hex.All the standard mathematical functions.Create variables to hold frequently used numbers.Connect your lines together using answer tokens.Do calculations with stocks (“100 AAPL”).Do easy conversions (“10 USD in Euros, “25 meters in feet”).Use words amid your calculations so your numbers make sense.See all your calculations all the time, and go back and change any of them.Use Soulver to play around with numbers, do “back of the envelope” quick calculations, and solve day-to-day problems. Soulver is great for adding things up, easily doing percentages, and converting things, like currencies. You can do calculations over multiple lines, and use words alongside your numbers so they make sense. You type out your problems as you would on paper, and Soulver calculates your answer as you type. It’s quicker to use than a spreadsheet, and smarter and clearer than a traditional calculator. Would be nice if the scroll went down over the last line, so you don't have to look at the bottom of the screen if you are editing the last line.Soulver helps you do quick calculations and work things out. But most important of all, vertical tabs! I wouldn't expect some advanced customization, but simple things like changing the color scheme or fonts would be nice. There are missing currencies, like georgian lari. The "undo" after inserting "=>" doesn't erase the computed answer, so you have to remember not to use it in these cases and just remove the text manually instead. That being said, there are some problems and enhancement options, that I hope the developer(s) would eventually give some more attention: Oh, and it supports mobile platforms and synchronizes your sheets via iCloud It works with matrices, plots, has a ton of built in measurement units, etc

Soulver hex software#
It's functional: it not only has functions, it also treats them as first-class entities - so you can pass a function as an argument to another function (though this one probably doesn't make much sense for anyone who is not a software engineer or a mathematician, but whatever) It's symbolic: instead of just calculating the result, it treats expressions as first-class entities - so you can solve equations, find function derivatives, etc This one is a lot more powerful, naming just a few things that make it great: I've tried a couple of simpler calculators before: Numi and Soulver. Very powerful, but needs a little polishing Keeps track of units (m, s, m/s, m/s^2, etc.) so you can verify your equations as you compute.Binary math (& and |) and support for binary and hex number (`0xA9` and `0b1010`).Sum, prod, map, and reduce operations on lists, matrices, and ranges.Matrices with inverses so you can solve linear equations.Solves equations (`x + 2x + 4x = 42`, what is x?).Units `42 mph in kmph` and currency `¥599 in $`.Functions `f(c) = 9/5*c + 32` and even recursive functions. All these examples are fully explained within Calca itself.Īre you still using a desktop calculator? Are you using the silly calculator with the giant buttons that came with your OS? Computers are much more capable than doing simple one-line arithmetic - put your machine to work with Calca! Calca has been designed to work with iCloud documents so all your devices can access your calculations - you'll always have the latest files ready for viewing and editing.Ĭalca comes with a suite of examples to help you get started covering topics from home mortgages to kinetics. Since everything is calculated on the device - no network needed - you get answers instantaneously.Īll calculations are stored as plain text so you can easily share them with other editors and move them from device to device.
Soulver hex update#
You can declare variables, edit their values and watch everything update before your eyes. Variables and functions can be created with only a few keystrokes and can be manipulated with a rich library of operators and functions.Ĭalca updates as you type - just like a spreadsheet.

It's also a rich Markdown text editor so that you can explain your ideas alongside your calculations.Ĭalca is perfect for professionals and students - anyone who works with numbers and equations. It solves equations and simplifies complex expressions. Calca is a powerful symbolic calculator that updates as you type giving you instant answers.
